Mr.Jehad FAQIR -Head of Safety & Flight Operations,IATA Middle East & North Africa

  • The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) programme of airlines is a key element of the IATA Six-point Safety Strategy, and has been implemented to achieve two fundamental aims – improve airline operational safety, and enhance efficiency.
  • IOSA is an internationally accepted and recognized evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. IOSA uses internationally recognized quality audit principles, and is designed so that audits are conducted in a standardized and consistent manner.
  • Industry’s feedback after IOSA program matured was that the program should focus more on the implementation of the ISARPs. The IOSA Audit would focus too much on the documentation. Moreover, the operators would not continuously conform to the ISARPs.
  • As a result, The Enhanced IOSA was developed to address four pillars namely; Continuous Conformity with IOSA Standards , Focus on Implementation of IOSA Standards, Reliability of Airline’s Quality Assurance Functions and Auditing Standardization
